Buying Surly Frame in Amsterdam

Hi

sorry for writing in English!

I'll be in Amsterdam this weekend and i'm looking to buy a Surly Long Haul Trucker 26in for my wife.

Are there any shops in Amsterdam that have both the fully setup bikes AND the frames available.
(I'll need a fully setup bike to check her size, but i only want to buy the frame)

I found this via the surly site,.. but their website is a bit poor:
https://www.fietsenbijauke.nl/

Thanks!

Calvin
dear Calvin,

you could send an email to this bikeshop.
or you could look and search on www.marktplaats.nl for a LHT-type-of-26inch-wheelsize-bike in or near Amsterdam.
(Surly LHT's are not that common in the Netherlands  )
and I suggest you visit the city of Utrecht and try to find a Surly at Snel Fietsen https://www.snelfietsen.nl/surly or at Cycle Works https://www.facebook.com/CycleWorks-Utr ... 218135299/. I would first contact them to ask if they have LHT's in their store.

good luck! hoogframe
Cycleworks doesn't have LHT's in store.

You could email Justpedal.nl bike shop (in Amersfoort).
Not a LHT but a nice alternative are these frames:

New and in various sizes. Even Gates belt drive compatible.

Or try JustPedal at Amersfoort. They might be able to help you out.
Sorry, twice...
Hi Calvin,
In Amsterdam these shops do sell Surly:
- Fietsen bij Auke (for address: https://www.fietsenbijauke.nl/) - you found this one already :D
- Kaptein Tweewielers (http://www.kapteintweewielers.nl/)
- Cycleyou (aka Mees) (https://www.cycleyou.nl/)
- De Vakantiefietser (https://www.vakantiefietser.nl/)

Fietsen bij Auke has at least two surly cross checks in store. But I don't know if they have a LHT at this moment.
In the other shops you have to ask (and most likely have to order the LHT).
All are recommendable shops for buying a trekking bicycle.
Plus they can offer you good alternatives to the LHT if the ordering process takes too long.

And FYI: justpedal.nl (see post of Shrek) is the offical importer of Surly in the Netherlands.

Good luck!
Afaik Dutch dealers get their Surly's from Cosmic Sports in Germany.
thanks everybody for the suggestions!

am only in town for the weekend, and was hoping to try the size on a fully-setup bike before buying just the frame :(

thanks anyway! will probably go back to Amsterdam again soon so maybe i can convince her totry more of the local brands like santos/koga-miyata etc.
by the way i contacted fietsenbijauke and they dont have anything in stock
JustPedal in Amersfoort has some Surly bikes in stock. (justpedal.nl)

Surly is not that common here.
(and, unfortunately, pretty expensive)

The 'mainstream' travel bikes you see around here are Koga, Santos and Idworx, which are (Idworks and Santos even more so than Koga) highly 'polished' bikes, that do have all the goodies and gizmo's up to a sometimes ridiculous extent (Matching colors anodized Rohloff and SON hubs, Hope downhill brakes with 203mm rotors) but they're bulky, heavy, hard to service, obscenely expensive and often ridden by people who actually don't know that much about bikes.

Some smaller manufacturers/bike shops like Snel, Avaghon, Vittorio and M-Gineering build semi- or full custom travel bikes.

If you're looking to buy an affordable off-the-shelf travel bike here, VSF is probably your best bet.

The way this is written, men should say it's all facts.
