Vorige week is er weer een bus beschoten in de buurt van de vorige overval waarbij toen 2 Zwitserse fietsers omkwamen.
Deze keer waren er 12 doden.
Heeft waarschijnlijk de Nederlandse kranten niet gehaald deze keer vandaar dit kort bericht.

Toestand: Van de 69 passagiers zijn er 12 gedood en waren er 31 gewonden.

Plaats:3 km buiten Viengkham village. (vind het niet terug op mijn kaart)

Nu heb ik in de Vientiane Times niets gelezen over de Oostenrijkse fietsreiziger die in Nederland onderweg is vermoord. Wel las ik in die krant het volgende bericht:

Beer Lao moves forward

VIENTIANE, JULY 04 (KPL) In the first half of 2003 the Lao Brewery Company Limited was able to produce 350,097 hectolitres of Tiger Head Brand Beer, 3.6 percent up, compared to the same period of 2002. The beer production was also up 8.13 percent, compared with the six-month plan of 2003, according the report of the Lao Brewery Company Limited.
It is projected that in 2003 the company would produce 720,997 hectolitres of beer, 10.64 percent and 7.5 percent up, compared to 2002 and the 2003 plan respectively.
Besides the beer production, in this period the company could produce 10,548 hectolitres of Tiger Head Brand Drinking Water, which grew by 35.8 percent and by 31.2 percent, compared to 2002 and the six-month plan of 2003 respectively.
In 2003 the company planned to increase the production of drinking water to 21,618 hectolitres, up by 22.97 percent, compared to 2002.
This year the company invested its own capital, worth 7,459,000 Euro to increase the production from 65 million litres to 85 million litres. It is expected that the production expansion project would be complete by August this year.
In the fist six months of 2003, the Lao Brewery Company Limited was able to sell 370,785 hectolitres of beer, 14.50 percent up, compared to the same period of last year. It is expected to sell 719,206 hectolitres of beer in 2003, 12.99 percent increase, compared to 2002.
10,463 hectolitres of drinking water were sold 39.78 percent up, compared to the same period of last year. In 2003 some 21,155 hectolitres are expected to sell, 24.41 percent increase, compared to 2002.
As the production and sell has increased, the company was able to bring 238,211,977,820 kip without duties to its revenue, 7.70 percent up, compared to the six-month plan of 2003. It is projected that the company would earn 461.942 billion kip, up by 5 percent, compared to the annual plan.
The company was able to make a profit of 69,078,449,742 kip after tax, 21.38 percent increase, compared to the same period of 2002. Some 116.042 billion kip is expected to be a profit of the company in 2003, up by 16 percent, compared to the annual plan.
In the first six months of 2003, the company brought 111,369,728,171 kip to the state revenue, fulfilling 54.69 percent of the annual plan, 20.41 percent increase, compared to the same period of 2002. Six percent, compared to the annual plan, would bring some 215.881 billion kip to the state revenue in 2003, up.
During 30 years of its operation, the Lao Brewery Company Limited has also brought profits to society and consumers and improved Beer Lao quality recognized by the world. Recently, the Lao Brewery Co.Ltd's products, particularly Tiger Head Brand Drinking Water and Tiger Head Brand Beer Lao were awarded with the world gold medal and the world silver medal respectively. This shows the big success of the Lao Brewery Company Limited and happiness not only of staff of the Lao Brewery Company Limited, but also of the entire Lao people.
During the campaign on celebrating 30th founding anniversary of the Lao Brewery Company Limited, 2.52 billion kip has been spent to profit the society. The company has provided some 530,000,000 kip to improve public health systems in every province and 12,000 blankets, worth 670,000,000 kip to unprivileged people in northern provinces of Phongsaly, Luang Namtha and Huaphanh.
The company has spent some 1.32 billion kip on education improvement, dug supervision and control programme, sport activities, traditional festivals, and other activities concerning the health care.
To date, the Lao Brewery Company Limited continued to raise its production, increasing its profits and helping the society. Item ends
